Verified ReviewerSelling Expired Makeup Leading to Severe Skin Reaction & Company’s Refusal to Replace
Upon using the product, I experienced severe swelling, itching, blistering, and dark spots, which required medical attention, antibiotics, and ongoing skincare treatments. After checking the product's batch code and expiration details, I discovered that it had already expired 8 months before I purchased it.
This means I unknowingly applied a harmful, expired product to my skin. Upon realizing the source of my reaction and the expiration date, I contacted both Sephora and Laura Mercier's Customer Service to report the issue and request a refund or replacement.
However, Sephora denied any resolution on the grounds that the purchase was made over 30 days ago, even though the product they sold me was already unsafe at the time of purchase. Laura Mercier investigated and stated that Sephora would need to address the issue.

Store credit issue
I made a purchase return at Sephora in the Kohls store. I wanted to order the Dr.
gross lip plumper but it was not in stock. The clerk gave me a refund in a Kohls gift card. I attempted to use the refund gift card on sephora.com but was unsuccessful. The card was invalid.
When I called Sephora in Kohls they stated that I could only use it in the Kohls store. They transferred me to a manager at Kohls who also advised me that I can only use the gift card at Kohls, not at Sephora. They mentioned they cannot refund me any of the funds, which means now I do not have the product that I want and nor can I purchase it from Sephora online or any Sephora store directly.
I have a Kohls credit that I do not plan to use at the moment because I wanted it for my Sephora purchase to purchase the Doctor gross lip pumper. I was not informed of this during my return transaction.

Verified Reviewer |I purchased a gift card for my daughter at the store inside a Kohls. When my daughter sctatched the silver strip over the card numbers and tried to order something the card came back unavailable.
I took the card and my receipt back to where I bought it, and the girl said that after some investigation, the card was already used up the whole $50. She said that on 8/4/24 a purchase of .40 was made and then $40.80 on 8/5/34 another purchase of $8.80 was made.
I didn't even give this card to my daughter until the night of 8/4/24! The woman at Sephora told me that there's nothing she can do—basically, oh well, too bad! I called the main number for Sephora, and the representative told me that there's a scam happening where people scratch off the numbers, record the information, then replace the silver scratch-off area with a paint marker or something.
She said it happens a lot at Sephora because the cards are not behind the counter and anyone has access to them. Once again, her reply was, 'Sorry, Charlie,' they wouldn't even look up the transactions, they said it was an invasion of privacy?

Verified ReviewerGreat Customer Service response!
Called Sephora today (Canadian). Customer service was very nice and I had zero wait time!
They were quick to resolve my issue; I received an item that wasn't mine and wanted to give them a heads up if the bereaved customer made a report. The service worker assured me that they would be contacting the customer personally to resolve it and that I didn't need to worry. They also said I could return the item to a Sephora store (or request a shipping label), but I could also keep it if I wanted.
Very nice guy. I hope the customer receives their item!!
- Good quality items
- Fast shipping
- Expensive
- Small quantities
Preferred solution: Nothing
User's recommendation: Honestly? Treat them kindly. Give them the same treatment you'd expect to receive from them: be warm, friendly, and cooperative.
Purchase
I had a gift item I returned for in store credit. The store failed to provide evidence for my transaction on my account, and I am unable to return the item (NARS foundation in the wrong shade) that I purchased with my in store credit. I would like to return the foundation and I am unable to.
- Good selection
- Poor in store customer service
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Ask for a paper receipt
Still haven’t received my item, what’s going on , is it how you treat people?
Since the 2nd June date of my purchase, I have received nothing, this is not professional. I need my money back . Thanks

Verified ReviewerMissing items on several orders
Hello community,
This post is a request for help or ideas of what I can do.
In the last few weeks, three of my orders have been missing product.
The first order was missing an hourglass brush, I contacted costumer service and they sent the brush back, which by the way never arrived.
The second order arrived missing a milk makeup bronzer and again I contacted customer service and they said that because they had already fulfilled my request for the hourglass brush, they couldn't do anything about it.
Today I received another package missing a lip plump from Tarte and again the response was: there's nothing we can do.
I'm tired of this situation happening over and over again, I feel like I can no longer trust Sephora and that I'm going to need to do my shopping on other sites, because their negligence is unacceptable.
I'm Sephora Rouge, I spend tons of dollars at Sephora a year and it feels like I'm being ripped off.
I'm losing hope, taking a huge loss and having a terrible consumer experience.
What else can I do about this situation? Has anyone ever experienced this? I need urgent help.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Never issued a refund
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.
Placed an order on April 21st, 2023. Returned items shortly thereafter; Sephora received them on June 16th.
An associate via chat said that the return had been received, and the refund should follow.
The refund did not follow. Two weeks later, on July 1st, I filed a dispute with PayPal and won.
Sephora now says that I owe them the amount of the dispute, even though they never issued the refund to me, PayPal did.
Logic = missing.
Preferred solution: Cancellation of amount due

In this December out of two purchases , two have been a fraud . The first one a Dyson that never arrived , in an order of two . The second a Renergie HCF Serum came with a defective pump.
What are the odds of this happening to a single customer on two different orders placed in the period of one month , if not a confirmation of your bad intention ? 670$ lost.

Verified Buyer |Scratch off the card number
I mistakingly scratch off the Sephora card number, and I tried to return it back to the store to get cash but they didn't collect it, they said there is nothing they can do to it, so I want Sephora to help me to generate the card number, so that I can able to redeem the card.

Any problems you are experiencing is a result of an allergic reaction and not because the product (which you failed to identify) was "expired". It sounds like you are trying to get some extra coin in your pocket over this. Tsk tsk.
Considering the product was expired and I used it while my skin began to itch and swell. Of course I did not think it was my make up but everything else I was using which was natural.
I submitted before and after pics in my initial contact with sephora and was ignored. I also submitted a picture of my antibiotics because my skin became infected which required a doctors appointment. since i have melanated and sensitive skin my issue has been ongoing for months after my daughter purchased my make up online as a gift. I was not completely out of my other and didnt start using it right away when she purchased in August.
I have purchased products, gone to the doctor, taken antibiotics and from Benadryl to calamine lotion have attempted to soothe my red, blistering, inflamed skin that now has pigmentation spots from my horrible break out. Do me a favor and dont comment on my post again. youre an idiot who has not idea what I have been through.
And yes using a product on my skin that was sold 8 months after expiration is a problem. My hyperpigmentation will take a long time to go away.
